On Thursday July 22, 2010, I attended the Nikki Sixx 987FM Side Show party hosted by Kat Von D. It was held at the beautiful Hollywood Towers in Los Angeles. In addition to Nikki’s nationally syndicated weekday radio show, Sixx Sense, he has launched a 2 hour countdown show, called the Side Show. It airs on 987FM on Saturdays from 8-10AM. The show is a top 20 weekly countdown show that also gives Nikki the chance to showcase bands that HE wants you to hear…his Sixx Picks.
The party was thrown to welcome Nikki to the 987 family. A fire eater, sword swallower and contortionist were on hand to entertain the attendees and Nikki and Kat sat down with DJs Kennedy and Darren to answer questions that we had written down for them.
My question was about Sixx AM. I wanted to know if there were any plans for a Sixx AM tour after Ozzfest. His answer is here:
Craig Alexander, vocalist for local band Electric Child, asked if Nikki would be featuring unsigned bands on the Side Show. His answer here:

I went into the Lomography Gallery Store in West Hollywood yesterday to drop off some film. I was chatting with a customer who was holding a Canon SLR camera. He had an attachment to use the lens from his Diana and recommended it. For $12, I decided to buy one and try it out.
Today, I went to the Renegade Craft Fair at the Cornfield in Downtown Los Angeles and decided to test out the 75mm lens from my Diana F+ on my Canon 5D. The results were pretty cool, but I think I prefer the results with the lens on the Diana. I’m testing it out again tonight in a low light rave setting to see if I can get some decent shots…if not, I will switch to pinhole, 120 film and a tripod. 😉
On Sunday, July 18, 2010, I took a class at the Lomography Gallery Store in Los Angeles. I learned the history of this medium format, the ten golden rules and by the end, bought a Diana F+.
I’ve been shooting digital for years, but really miss film! I think lomography will help me think more creatively and I’m excited to see this great city through a different lens!
Here are some photos that I took during the workshop:
I attended the first stop of the Mayhem Festival in San Bernadino, CA on July 10, 2010. The festival is touring all summer and though the line-up may change slightly depending on leg, Saturday we got:
