Get me to the Greek! Fishbone and Primus, 6/8/12

Fishbone is still RED HOT and Primus still “sucks”…which is to say, they were both in fine form last night!  I had been looking forward to this double billing for months and am always most happy with a camera in my hand, so I was very glad to have the opportunity to shoot both bands last night.  Fishbone came out first and played a tight 45 minute set, about 9 songs, that started with Everyday Sunshine and ended with Party at Ground Zero.  I don’t think it’s possible to have a bad time at a Fishbone show!  They are so much fun to hear and watch!  I wished they could have played a little longer, but they definitely got the crowd primed for Primus! (Sorry, had to!)  Around 9:15, Primus took to a darkly lit stage, with two huge inflatable astronauts as a backdrop, kicking into Southbound Pachyderm followed by Wynona’s Big Brown Beaver. In between songs, the loving chant of “Primus Sucks” would echo through the Greek Theater.  It was my first time seeing them live and it definitely brought me in time to when I had Sailing the Seas of Cheese and Pork Soda on heavy rotation. Their newer material fit right in with the songs that I was more familiar with and overall it was a great night!  The set lists (from are after the photos.
