Pearl Jam 11/24/2013 Sports Arena, Los Angeles, CA
I hadn’t seen my favorite band live since 2009 at the Gibson Amphitheater. As they’ve come through LA solo (Eddie) or with their other bands (Brad, RNDM, Soundgarden…), I’ve managed to see almost all of their shows to satisfy my Pearl Jam concert withdrawal. Sadly, I missed Flight to Mars at the Troubadour. This past weekend, I attended both shows at the Los Angeles Sports Arena.
I was in Concourse 14 on Saturday. On Sunday, I had a GA pit ticket! THANK YOU TEN CLUB! The closest I’d ever been at a Pearl Jam show was 2nd row center at the Boston Garden on April 11, 1994. I knew I may not be fortunate enough to get a pit ticket again, so I was going to make this one count! I got home from the first show and set my alarm for 3 and a half hours later! 4AM came very early, but I was up like a spring, completely excited to start the day. I got to the Sports Arena neighborhood around 5AM, found free parking and then found the kindred tribe of PJ fans camped out by the South entrance. By 5:30 AM, I had my # in line (25) and my cardboard cushion bed to make the wait a little warmer. The day went by very quickly and before I knew it, I was inside at the rail on Stone’s side. To hear Oceans as an opener really set the mood for me and right from the get-go, I knew this would be the best PJ experience I’d ever had. And it was! I didn’t take a ton of photos, as I wanted to be in the moment and not miss a thing. But, I had my point and shoot and below is what resulted.
