Painted Turtle benefit at the Roxy 10-11-09. West Hollywood, CA

The Painted Turtle is a camp in Lake Hughes, California, for kids and teens, ages 7 to 16, with serious illnesses.

On October 11, 2009, the Painted Turtle held a fund raiser at the Roxy in West Hollywood, hosted by Twisted Sister’s Dee Snider. The house band was Dude Jones. Guests included Slash, Jason and Zoe Bonham, George Lynch, Tony Catania, Mick Jones and Jeff Pilson. I’ll have lots of video up on my youtube channel (www.youtube.com/lawomanphotography) in the coming days.

Surfrider Foundation’s 25th Anniversary Gala

In celebration of the organization’s 25th Anniversary, the Surfrider Foundation hosted a star-studded gala on Friday, October 9, 2009 at the California Science Center’s Wallis Annenberg Building in Downtown Los Angeles.

The event was highlighted by the presentation of the Surfrider Foundation’s Keeper of the Coast Award. The award, which is only given out once every five years, is presented to celebrities who have made significant contributions towards helping the Surfrider Foundation fulfill its mission. This year, musical acts Incubus and Pearl Jam, along with actor David Chokachi will join previous winners including Jack Johnson, Perry Farrell and Bruce Johnston and Mike Love of the Beach Boys.Red Carpet arrivals here: www.LAwomanPhotography.com/surfrider

Venice finally gets a skate park!

The much anticipated, and long awaited, skate park in Venice, CA finally opened on Saturday October 3, 2009! I attended the opening party held at Kristin Jai Klosterman art studio. Beowulf, Lisa D’Amato, Dirt Nasty and Hellride (Peter Distefano, Mike Watt and Stephen Perkins) performed to a packed house.
