Photo set: Wilshire Grand construction breaking world records, Los Angeles 2/16/2014

Wilshire Grand construction site, February 16, 2014, Los Angeles, CA

Earlier today, I went to the construction site of the Wilshire Grand Center to witness the largest continuous concrete pour in history, as validated by a Guinness Book Records official in attendance.  Although I couldn’t get photos of the concrete being poured for safety reasons, I was there when the record was reached.  A twenty hour continuous pouring of concrete was needed for the massive foundation, which will support the 1,100 ft building.  Once completed, the Wilshire Grand Center will be the tallest building west of the Mississippi.

On a personal note, my grandfather had a cement business in Providence, R.I. and I can’t help but think he was with me in spirit.
