I’ve always had a soft spot for the word “triumvirate”. However, sometimes, great things come in 4, not 3. So impressive on all four corners, I like to think of Tomahawk as a tetrarchy. te·trar·chy noun \ˈte-ˌträr-kē, ˈtē-\ plural te·trar·chies: government by four persons ruling jointly.
Mike Patton (Faith No More/Mr. Bungle/Fantômas etc), Duane Denison (Jesus Lizard), John Stanier (Helmet/Battles) and Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle/Fantômas/Melvins) combined forces to melt faces at LA’s Mayan Theater on February 19, 2013 in support of their new album, Oddfellows. They opened with “God Hates a Coward” from their 2001 debut album and played a solid set pulling from all their releases, with just a few moments that gave some breathing room- like “I.O.U.” and the George Jones cover “Just One More”. They ended with a ferocious cover of Bad Brains “Pay To Cum”!
East Coast dates for June were just announced. Make sure you catch them…they don’t tour very often!
