On Thursday July 12, 2012 I attended the Jail Guitar Doors benefit at the Echoplex in Los Angeles, CA. Wayne Kramer partnered with Billy Bragg in 2009 to found Jail Guitar Doors USA. They are working to bring musical instruments and education programs to the prison population and work with social service organizations to create positive transitions for ex-prisoners back into the community after incarceration. Proceeds from the show at Echoplex went to get guitars as rehabilitation into LA county’s juvenile detention facilities. DJ QBN Montana got the party going, Matt Dwyer MC’d and among those performing were Wayne Kramer, English Teeth, David Yow, Corey Parks, Jill Sobule, Cody Marks, Zach Blair, Don Miggs, Chris Shiflett and more! Several items were auctioned off, including an autographed guitar. George Wendt and Chris Pontius picked the tickets of the lucky winners.
