Last week, LA Guns played a few songs at Jani Lane’s memorial.  They were great, but three songs is never enough and I was left wanting more.  So, I headed to Santa Ana on Saturday to catch them at the Galaxy Theater before they headed off to South Korea, Scandinavia and beyond.

    Although I love Los Angeles, sometimes the crowd can be a bit apathetic.  It was nice to see one of my favorite bands with an audience that was totally into the show.  The club’s personnel and free parking were a bonus.

    I’ve seen various line-ups of this band over the years and the current one may be my favorite.  They are tight and seem to have good chemistry…Scott Griffin is back on bass, Stacey Blades is sill on guitar, Steve Riley on skins and, of course, the enigmatic Phil Lewis on vocals…the only voice I want to hear singing these songs!

As they did on 8/29 at the Key Club, the Ballad of Jayne was changed to the Ballad of Lane in memory of Jani.
